MICROBLADING

Microblading is a manual technique that enhances, reshapes, and refines the appearance of natural eyebrows. This procedure involves the application of semi-permanent makeup using a manual pen to draw precise, fine, and lifelike hair strokes. Each brow is custom-mapped based on the individual’s bone structure, as no two brows are identical. Whether you have natural brows or not, microblading is an ideal option for achieving natural-looking, long-lasting results.

MICROSHADING

Microshading is an ideal option for individuals with oily skin as the technique adheres well to this skin type. Unlike microblading, microshading uses a stippling technique to create a denser and thicker eyebrow by applying small dots of pigment rather than hair strokes. The outcome closely resembles the look of precisely-applied eyebrow powder.

Both microblading and microshading can be done together for creating natural-looking eyebrow design involves microblading with microshading to give the appearance of fuller and thicker eyebrows. This method is particularly suitable for individuals with oily skin, sparse eyebrows, or no eyebrows.

FAQ’s

Microblading can provide you with fuller looking eyebrows without the time, and effort of everyday make up application or the discomfort of a fully permanent approach.

The treatment itself causes no bleeding, and post-treatment, you may experience minimal swelling or redness. And, because we draw every hair by hand instead of a machine, you’ll be left with a much more natural finish with no mistakes or ‘felt pen’ effects.

Following your treatment, the pigment will keep its colour, ensuring your shade does not change over time. The procedure is also much faster than other permanent techniques.

This long-lasting treatment is perfect for various situations, including health conditions such as alopecia, eyebrow damage from overplucking, or simply to enhance your confidence with reshaped eyebrows.

Conditions which make Microblading not suitable for you.

  • Pregnant or nursing women
  • Any skin disease – symptoms / flare: on or near the eyebrow area

Example: eczema, psoriasis-near the brow area, blisters, shingles

  • Prone to keloid scarring
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis
  • Sunburn
  • Allergies to trace metals- example: nickel
  • Directly after waxing
  • 6-8 weeks before or after chemical peels and facials
  • 4 weeks before or after injections or fillers
  • Diabetes: uncontrolled insulin dependent diabetes
  • Prescribed blood thinners
  • Hemophiliac
  • Prescribed use of Accutane within the past year
  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Antibiotic use during healing
  • Prescribed use of Humera for RA

Microblading can last 6-24months depending on how the skin reacts to the procedure. There may be fading and/or discoloration. The result may not be what you expected to receive. This is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that may take follow-ups and touch ups to get desired result.
The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years to maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:

  • Skin type (oily skin fade faster)
  • Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)
  • Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)
  • Use of daily anti-aging products. These products will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

It is usually takes 2-3 hours, with most of the time spent going over colors and mapping the measurements and shapes of the eyebrows. The microblading portions lasts 45-60 minutes.

Yes, in order to ensure that the brows heal perfectly, a minimum of two treatments are usually needed 6-10 weeks apart on average. This first touch-up is included as it gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly faded or allows the client to make suggestions if they want adjustments with the shape or color.

Most clients report little or no pain. We use cream to numb the eyebrow area. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort, but it’s relatively pain free for most.

(PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)

Yes. Please avoid anti-aging, lightening, brightening, tightening, acne products etc., as the skin thickness is altered and it will affect the best result.
These products have a HUGE impact on the healing brows. If these products are used 4 weeks prior or 4 weeks after the service, the brows will heal very patchy, completely faded, dark, or very unnatural in color. We have FAQs on our website for a reason, we want the best results for our clients. *THIS APPLIES TO AVOIDING THESE PRODUCTS ON THE WHOLE FACE AND NECK*. You can resume your products 4 weeks after the touch up when your eyebrows have fully healed.

Please fill out the form on the bottom of this website, indicating a preferred date for your Microblading treatment, and I will call you back immediately to discuss the treatment with you and book you an appointment.

Immediately after your microblading procedure and in the first 10 days, your brows will appear significantly darker and defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. 30-50% of your brow color will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days. In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results.
The complete healing process takes approximately 6 weeks.

All tools that are used are supplied by the most renowned microblading institute in the world – the PhiBrows Academy, to ensure the highest quality and safety for the client. All of my tools are one-time use only. ALL blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind.

We choose a colour together by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results.

Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Excessive Swelling or Bruising:
Some people bruise and swell more than others. Ice packs may help and the bruising and swelling typically disappears with 1-5 days. Some people don’t bruise or swell at all.

Pain:
There can be pain even after the cream has been used.

Uneven Pigmentation:
This can result from poor healing, infection, bleeding or many other causes. Your follow up appointment will likely correct any uneven appearance.

Asymmetry:
Every effort will be made to avoid asymmetry but our faces are not symmetrical so adjustments may be needed during the follow up session to correct any unevenness.

Eye Exposure:
There is a small risk of eye injury when an eyeliner procedure is performed. To avoid corneal abrasion, a thick eye drop is used to protect the eye prior to the procedure. Eye drops are used to cleanse and flush the eye after the procedure is complete.

Numbing Cream:
Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area to be tattooed. If you are allergic to any of these please inform me now.

MRI:
Because pigments used in permanent cosmetic procedures contain inert oxides, a low level magnet may be required if you need to be scanned by an MRI machine. You must inform your technician of any tattoos or permanent cosmetics.

Infection:
Infection is very unusual. The areas treated must be kept clean and only freshly cleaned hands should touch the areas. See “After Care” sheet for instructions on care.

Allergic Reaction:
There is a small possibility of an allergic reaction. You may take a 5-7 day patch test to determine this.

Microblading procedure normally requires multiple treatment sessions. For best results, clients will be required to return for at least one re-touch appointment. This will take place 6 weeks after the initial procedure. Those with oily skin may require an additional touch up.

  • Please be aware that color intensity will be significantly darker and sharper immediately and a few days after the initial procedure, but the color will reduce by 30-50%.
  • Although numbing cream is used during the procedure, sensitivity or discomfort may still be felt. Skin may be red and/or swollen after the procedure.
  • Please do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment.
  • Where possible, try to avoid the following herbs and spices prior to your appointment: Black pepper, Cardamom, any member of the Zingiberaceae (Ginger) family, Cayenne, Cinnamon, Garlic, Horseradish, Mustard.
  • A patch test will be performed, unless waived by client.
  • Please do not shape or wax your brows before the procedure. Your technician will shape brows during the procedure.
  • No electrolysis for at least 5 days before the procedure.
  • AHA products and retinoids should be avoided for 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
  • Exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion should not be performed within 2 weeks prior to procedure.
  • Chemical and laser peels should be avoided no less than 6 weeks prior to procedure.
  • Patients prone to cold sores/fever blisters should take an anti-viral prior to treatment.
  • Hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and/or cause sensitivity.

For first 24 hours:
30 minutes after procedure: gently cleanse eyebrows with Wipes without stretching the skin. Use one side of wipe for 1 brow, use other side for other brow. Immediately after using the wipe, apply skin candy ointment with q-tip on each brow.
Repeat this process 3-5x for first 24 hours. Avoid applying makeup in eyebrow area.

For first week:
Apply skin candy cream for next 6 days 3-5x a day. Eyebrows must not get wet while washing face or in shower.

After Care is one of the most important factors for a satisfying outcome after microblading.

The process involves cutting into your skin, so keeping the area clean is essential, especially for the first week. We’ll provide you with a balm to ensure even healing.

Best practices you should heed if you want to maintain your new look include:

Avoiding moisture or makeup in the eyebrow area for one week

Limiting sun exposure

Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating for 14 days. This includes sunbathing, heavy workouts, saunas, and steam rooms.

Avoid Scratching, rubbing, tugging, or picking at the treated area.

No swimming

For first month:
AVOID suntanning, sunbeds, light (laser) therapy, chemical peels, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors. Use of antibiotics or hormonal therapy can cause fading. After 7 days have passed, protect eyebrows by using sunscreen.

Aftercare product is given complimentary with each appointment!

Eyebrows will take a full 30-42 days for complete healing.
